What to Wear to Thanksgiving Dinner?

What to Wear to Thanksgiving Dinner?

That is a question I ask myself. Do I want to dress up? Do I want to feel super-duper comfortable? Or is it going to be an attitude…it doesn’t matter if I am rocking a stylish outfit or not?

You may be asking yourself the same question.

Getting dressed can feel the same way as ‘dressing your thanksgiving table’.

Everyone approaches it very differently.

As I was pulling up my blank page to write, I decided to look in my vault of prior thanksgiving articles.

Something really cool came up that I wrote in 2016.

As I was reading it, I thought wow, I wrote this. I hope you glean as much as I enjoyed reflecting on my prior thoughts about image and style.

If you’ve been following me for a while, one thing I know for sure, image and style begin with you, not the clothes.

Many think of image and style as ONLY outer appearance.

Yes, I help you with outer appearance, but your outer appearance can only look as good as to what is going on in the inside of ‘how you think of yourself’.

My greatest joy is watching you get dressed and then look in the mirror and LOVE what you see.

1. That means there is a positive self-image going on.

2. When you LOVE what you see, your heart opens.

3. Your self-respect is expanding (something I totally value).

4. And a radiant smile reflecting back to you.

That’s what I want you to think about as you step into your closet and make your final decision on what to wear to Thanksgiving dinner.

I’m so thankful for the memory of my client Barbara who demonstrated that kind of joy.

Barbara told me she had finally given herself permission to feel beautiful, vibrant, and fabulous.

As she was reflecting on her reveal your radiance style journey she realized, she felt like a beautiful package that she couldn’t wait to be opened.

Barbara’s new elevated self-image is how I want EVERY woman to feel.

Now it’s your turn to feel like a beautiful gift.

So, what are you going to wear to Thanksgiving dinner?

1. A beautiful comfy sweater

2. Your favorite pair of jeans

3. A fun flirty dress

4. A gorgeous scarf

5. Edgy leather jacket

Using Color in Your Wardrobe to Influence and Elevate Your Personal Style

Are you someone who loves adding new color each season?

do you tend to stay with your few favorites that you can depend on?

Color definitely has a personality.

And there is no one right answer.

That is truly the beauty of color, you have the opportunity to use it as a tool in your branding as well as your wellbeing.

And that is exactly how the Pantone 2021-22 Fall/Winter colors were chosen this year.

You're going to find colors that you can use to embrace personal expression whether sensible or quirky, color that embrace calm and healing as well as express a rainbow of hope and joyfulness.

According to Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, “This season is offering a range of pragmatic hues infused with vivifying bright pops, and a plethora of possibilities that support our lifestyle of continual reinvention and convey a promise of reemergence.”

How to Find the Perfect Fitting Pants

How to find the perfect fitting pants.

As a personal image consultant who has worked with 1000’s of women I have found that whether you are a size 2 or 22, pants can be difficult to fit.

I get it. Not all pants are created equal.

Before we continue to chat about fit, know that with Covid, shopping is different and it can be extremely difficult to find what you need with in-person shopping.

Shopping for clothes online has become our new norm.

As a professional stylist who now shops for her clients online 99% of the time, I am going to help you with my best personal styling tips and advice.

Something no one talks about when shopping for pants.

Personal Styling Advice Tip #1:

Decide on your preference. Do you know what styles and cuts look best on you? Are you aware of your body type and what styles flatter you? What styles make you feel most confident?

If you are a professional, powerful woman, knowing the answers to these questions will empower you to show up as the best version of you every time.

·       Straight

·       Wide leg

·       Boot cut

·       Skinny

·       Crop pant

Instead of getting overwhelmed with ALL the silhouette choices, begin with one look.

Personal Styling Advice Tip #2

Think about your measurements. When was the last time you measured yourself? Get current measurements so that you can easily make choices when shopping online.

·       Waist

·       Rise -waist to crotch

·       Back rise

·       Hips

·       Thigh

·       Inseam

Personal Styling Advice Tip #3

Stop wasting time ordering pants and that are not going to fit you perfectly and give you the confident feel and look you deserve.

Remember just because a particular brand is the perfect fit for your friend Emily, doesn’t mean they are going to fit you perfectly.

Personal styling is unique to you.

The goal is for you to love what you are wearing while feeling ultra-confident as a professional businesswoman.

When you have a strong self-image of how you are walking into the room or zoom room, others feel your self-esteem and success.

Style begins with the woman, not the clothes.

Essential Ingredients to Elevate Your Style Confidence Part 2: Courage

Have you wondered if you could pull off a specific look?

But you stopped yourself because you were afraid of what others were going to think?

In Part 2 of the 5 Part series, we’re going to talk about Courage.

You may be thinking what does courage have to do with style and image?

More than you think.

The dictionary defines Courage as bravery, which is also the opposite of fear.

Thirty years ago, I learned a concept from the book, Feel the Fear and Do It Anyways.

The ‘bullseye’ of a target was a metaphor of staying inside your comfort zone.

When I learned that, it was a picture I wanted to change.

Are you someone who tends to wear the same styles and same few colors all the time?

If you knew that you would not be judged, what would you love to wear? What image would you like to project?

If you never go outside the ‘bullseye’ circle because you are afraid of what others are going to think, how long will you stay in your bullseye style comfort zone?

What if you took one small step towards a style that made you feel like a million bucks?

One small step to the next circle.

Observe your comfort zone of style growing as well as your Courage and Confidence.

You may be thinking, it’s time to be more visible online or when you enter a zoom room.

Try one NEW accessory piece. Maybe a statement necklace. How does it feel?

One baby step leads to the next big step of courage.

Instead of a head-to-toe red dress, maybe it’s a red shoe. A red necklace.

One step of courage leads to increased confidence which then leads to elevating your Style Confidence.

It’s time to look as good as you feel!

If you are feeling stuck in your style comfort zone and not sure how to get out of it or where to begin, I’m here to help.

Imagine if You Stopped Questioning Your Personal Style

As a woman I have often felt that society has put women into a generality that all women love to shop and have a natural fashion sense.

Agree or disagree?

From my experience, many women only shop because they “have to” not because it is enjoyable.

It can sometimes feel hard and stressful according to clients who I work with.

Well, I did some of my own digging to see where this paradigm began, and this is what I found according to Psychology Today.

According to the socio-biologists, women are linked to shopping in the same way that men are linked to sports. Often women's behavior is explained by something like the "shopping gene": men are the "hunters" (conquering stuff) and women are the "gatherers" (finding stuff).

Interestingly, it began historically, as an offshoot of advertising and commercialism, as a way to encourage women to feel in charge—deceptively inviting them to make choices and decisions of their own.

What if I told you that adopting a personal style was reflective of the real you?

Not what someone else told you to be.

What if I gave you permission to be try new styles that intrigued you?

Garments that made you feel joyful.

Like my client Mary, who wants to experiment with yellow.

Pieces that make you feel beautiful. Maybe a feminine color, like blush pink.

An accessory that yells, BOLD.

Why not?

It all begins in the investigative process of discovering who are you?

What are your likes and dislikes?

What is your current lifestyle and what kind of pieces can you add that support your way of life?

This is how I work differently.

We begin with the Power of You.

You are a woman in charge.

And you get to make choices that bring out the best of you and allow you to step into your excellence.

As a personal image consultant who empowers women to get dressed with ease and show up confidently, one thing I know for sure….

Many women question if they have a personal style, and are not sure where to begin.

Join me where we will be talking more about this at my upcoming Style Strategy and Confidence Masterclass on Thursday, June 24th @ 1pm PST.

Do You Question if You’re Too Old to Pull-off a Certain Style Look?

Wondering, am I too old to wear that, is that too young for me, can I pull it off?

Another birthday, brings a bigger number and often we question, is that age appropriate?

I’m addressing this question because I just celebrated my birthday.

Instead of focusing on age, what if you tried on something NEW and you felt beautiful and elegant?

Maybe you have told yourself that younger is better?

Begin that conversation in your head with self-acceptance.

Guess what, you’re never going to be younger than you are today.

What if...the color was perfect, you loved how it felt on your body, and it fit like a dream?

What if…you felt more empowered?

As a personal image consultant who helps women with their personal styling and creating authentic confident looks, one thing I know for sure….

Style begins with the woman, not the clothes.

Wear colors and prints that make you feel alive.

Choose styles that make you feel current.

Try a new lip color or gloss.

Stand out and be noticed. I give you permission.

Get outside your comfort zone and try something NEW, have fun.

Look in the mirror, and you will see how young at heart you really are.

Do You LOVE Your Outfit?

I have nothing to wear, have you ever said that to yourself?

But we all know you have a closet full of clothes, right?

Maybe the better question to ask yourself, why don’t you LOVE the garment?

One of things I hear from women frequently is; finding clothes that FIT.

Finding clothes that fit your body as it changes with age.

Maybe your weight has fluctuated.

You bought the garment on a whim because you wanted something new, but later realized it was not quite right, and you have never worn it again?

You gave in to the notion that it was an OK fit, and went with it, because you couldn’t find something that felt customized to your body type?

It is baggy in certain areas.

Maybe it’s too short or too long?

You just don’t love it. I hear you.

I believe, nothing is worse than having a wardrobe that doesn’t fit properly.

Every time you put the piece on, you feel just OK vs. the confidence you were craving.

What if…you began asking yourself every time you decided to make a purchase, do I love this?

What if…you began looking at your clothing choices with a more critical eye and asking yourself, does this align with how I want to show up?

What if…you began giving yourself permission to let go of pieces that didn’t empower you to step into your excellence?

Is it time to ‘try on’ the best version of you?
